The National Digital Rights aims to empower civil society organizations in addressing digital rights and cyber security issues, as well as empower young people to protect themselves from the dangers of internet and become aware of their digital rights how to protect and practice them.

To do so, through the project nine local civil society organizations from Shkoder, Pogradec, Tirane, and Vlore and Fier have been trained on digital rights principles and cybersecurity. A digital toolkit will be developed to help CSOs in Albania address such issues in a structured manner.

The project introduces the novel approach of Digital Rights and Cybersecurity Ambassadors, who are youth coming from the cities where the project is being implemented, and whose knowledge and capacities are further developed through a tailored mentorship program.

These ambassadors will serve as liaisons to their peers, families, and teachers, to further disseminate and raise awareness on digital rights and cyber security. They will drive and host YouthLed Digital Rights talks in their cities. The project will bring together as a culmination of the Festival, stakeholders, ambassadors, the larger donor community in Shkoder, to jointly create an understanding on digital rights and cybersecurity and means of intervention and approach.

The National Festival of Digital Rights is supported by the regional project “SMART Balkans – Civil Society for Common Values in the Western Balkans” implemented by the Center for the Promotion of Civil Society (CPCD), the Institute for Democracy and Mediation, and the Center for Research and Policy-Making (CRPM) with the financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway.
