SCiDEV in the framework of the Network of Albanian Women in STEM is implementing a project called: Local STEMspresso – Promoting Women in STEM to Youth from Youth. The project aims to increase the visibility of Albanian women in STEM and build a STEM education culture among youth in Albania. The projects seeks to contribute to the popularization of STEM among young women and men on STEM education, increase the visibility of women in STEM in Albania, and increase creative and multimedia competences of young people. SCiDEV is collaborating with local partners to implement activities: Gruaja tek Gruaja, Sot per te Ardhmen, and Une Gruaja

The project will work with 36 young people in the cities of  Shkoder, Durres, Pogradec.

To raise awareness on STEM, the project will organize  3 STEMtalks, one in each city, where members of the Network of Albanian Women in STEM speak about the importance of STEM education, the opportunities in their respective fields for career and research, and the benefits that women participation in STEM offers. The STEMtalks will be open to participating youth, as well as to other community members.

The project will organize 3 bootcamps on Creative and Multimedia Comptetences, where the participating young people, organized in teams of 4 (3 teams per city, 9 teams in total) will be trained on creative and multimedia competences by two selected experts. The experts will provide online support to the teams, and during the bootcamp in person support, to develop multimedia content, in the forms of podcasts and videos, on Albanian women in STEM.

The content created by the participating young people, 6 video profile and 3 podcasts on Albanian women in STEM will be disseminated as part of a social media campaign. 

This project is implemented by SCiDEV, with UNDP support in close partnership with Ministry of Health and Social Protection, as part of the UN Joint Programme “Ending Violence against Women in Albania”, funded by the Government of Sweden.
